Social Media Analytics

It’s a good idea to periodically check in on the performance of your digital efforts to better assess what’s working best for you and your audience. It’ll help you spot areas for growth as well as areas where you may want to scale back or divert focus.

While each social platform differs slightly in the metrics they offer, the most important metrics relate to content performance. These metrics will help you gauge how well your audience is responding to what you post. The metrics to review are:

Monitor post performance over time to see what types of content your audience responds most to. Consider adding more of the content that does well and scaling back on post types that are not performing as well.

You can also watch your follower growth numbers to see if anything triggers a spike in followers, or a decline. Keep in mind that declines may also occur by users leaving the platform.

Plus, some platforms offer demographics information. If this is available, take a look to see if your audience falls into a specific age group and consider crafting your copy accordingly. You might want to speak differently to the Gen Z crowd vs the Baby Boomers. However, if the age range is wide, you’ll want to write for a broader audience.
